We need a Mayor to transform New York City. We need to rebuild the City in which we live and the City where we raise our children, where we work and where we spend time with our friends. New York City needs leadership that unifies, focuses on an inclusive economic recovery and enhances everyone’s quality of life. There is one candidate who can achieve this and that is Ray McGuire.
On June 22nd, New Yorkers will head to the polls for the New York City Mayor’s Democratic primary (early voting has already started). To say that the outcome of the primary is consequential is an understatement. Whether New York City makes a comeback hangs in the balance. At this moment, New York City is on a tightrope. Crime and fear of crime are up significantly. The education of our youth is on a steep decline. Small businesses are hurting. The relationship between the police and the communities across the city they are charged to protect is stressed and needs to be healed. Hate crimes are increasing. And, at the exact time that we need the government to invest in New York City, there is a real risk that our tax base will shrink as wealthy New Yorkers are ready to move (not just to Florida but to Westchester, Connecticut and Long Island).
To bring New York City back we need to come together. We need a Mayor who can unite all New Yorkers no matter their race, religion, culture or creed. Indeed, we need a Mayor who assures that we are celebrating our diversity and leading us by example. We need a Mayor who understands the economy, knows how to balance a budget and knows how to make the the capital markets work for all of us. We need a Mayor who knows what it’s like to be discriminated against but also knows how to provide all New Yorkers with real opportunity so no one is left behind. We need a Mayor who can raise everyone up and who fights for those New Yorkers not in the room. We need Ray McGuire.
Ray McGuire is uniquely qualified to lead New York City. I know Ray and it is not hyperbole to say he one of the best people I have ever met. Ray is a man of integrity and empathy. Ray is a man of strength and great judgment. Ray is a man who can unify New York City by bringing us all together and demonstrating the power of diversity and inclusion.
